Lot Surveys

A subdivision is the dividing of a property into a number of smaller properties referred to as lots. In newer developments, near the end of the construction of the roads and installation of utilities, the corners of the lots are marked with steel rods, pipes, and concrete monuments. A lot survey is a boundary retracement survey based on the dimensions shown on the subdivision drawing. Quite often in older developments, occupation lines may differ from where the property lines would be located strictly based on the dimensions shown on the subdivision drawing, requiring the lot surveyor to collect and analyze data on adjoining lots in order to establish the correct location of the property lines and corners.
